RECITING THE BUDDHA’S NAME

Reciting the Buddha’s Name
I am protected by all the Buddhas.
I find spiritual sustenance.

I purify my heart and mind
in the pure sound of the Buddha’s Name.

NAMO AMITABHA BUDDHA

Why do I greet you
“Amitabha Buddha”
Whenever we meet?

Why do I recite diligently
“Namo Amitabha Buddha”
In my daily practice?

“NamoAmitabha Buddha” is
when I greet every one who will eventually become a Buddha
when I invoke the Sacred Name
in constant mindfulness of the Buddha of Infinite Light and Life
when I remind myself of my Buddha Nature, Self-Nature.

“Amitabha” is every being who has the spiritual DNA of Buddha
who has the intrinsic essence of Infinite Light and Life
who has the natural birthright of complete enlightenment.

What you have to do
to become a Buddha
is to recite the Buddha’s Name.
Self-realization is the fulfillment of Buddha Nature
the attainment of Buddhahood
the full awakening
from the slumber of ignorance
to the realization
of the Supreme, Perfect Enlightenment of Omniscience.

What you have to do
to become a Buddha
is to recite
with complete faith and mindfulness
the Buddha’s Name.

MINDFULNESS OF THE BUDDHA

Reciting the Buddha’s Name is the key practice of mindfulness.
Reciting the Buddha’s Name
with complete faith sincerity and mindfulness
reciting the Buddha’s Name
until every sound is the Buddha’s Name
until every thought is the thought of the Buddha.

Reciting the Buddha’s Name diligently from day to day, from one kalpa to another
like water dripping constantly on a cave ceiling, from one geological age to another
each evocation of the Buddha’s Name becoming a precious drop
to fill the boundless ocean of enlightened consciousness.

Reciting the Buddha’s Name until your heart and mind opens up like a lotus flower and frees itself from all impurities.
Reciting the Buddha’s Name until your pure heart and mind becomes one with the omniscient wisdom of the Buddha.
Reciting the Buddha’s Name until you become a Buddha like Amitabha.

VOW FOR ULTIMATE BLISS

Amitabha Buddha has made and fulfilled all of the 48 Great Vows
to save and fully enlighten all sentient beings who have faith in the Buddha.
Thus all who believe in Amitabha Buddha will surely become Buddhas.
Faith is the first of the five faculties and powers of enlightenment.
Faith is the basis of spiritual cultivation.
Why do we have faith in Amitabha Buddha?
Amitabha Buddha is the Buddha of Infinite Light, the Buddha of Omniscient Wisdom.
Amitabha Buddha is also the Buddha of Infinite Life, the Buddha of Great Compassion.
Our faith in Amitabha Buddha is the master key to our Buddhahood.
The great fusion power of our faith in Buddha will combine
and ultimately unify our finite power with the Buddha’s infinite purifying power
to make our own enlightening power as infinite as the Buddha’s.

We can also tap the Power of the Vow
when we vow in our daily prayers to Amitabha Buddha
to attain rebirth in Amitabha’s Pure Land known as Ultimate Bliss.
There are many Pure Lands, so why should we seek rebirth in Ultimate Bliss?
The answer is as follows:
Rebirth in Ultimate Bliss brings instance spiritual liberation,
wipes out all human ignorance and suffering,
eradicates all human afflictions, defilements and impurities.

Rebirth in Ultimate Bliss finally revokes the otherwise irrevocable law of karma
which binds all sentient beings to the interminable cycle of birth and death, of countless rebirth in Samsara.

Moreover, Amitabha’s Pure Land is a paradise for Bodhisattvas and all others seeking and cultivating the Supreme, Perfect Enlightenment.
Ultimate bliss provides the most ideal environment for the ultimate spiritual cultivation.
With the Buddha’s Pledge of Non-retrogressionand assurance of Buddhahood,
there is zero regression or failure in this Pure Land.

All who are reborn and transformed in Ultimate Bliss will become Buddhas in one lifetime,
endowed as they are with wisdom, supernatural powers and an infinite lifespan like the Buddha’s.

We must therefore recite the Buddha’s Name
in order to be reborn in Ultimate Bliss.
Recite the Buddha’s Name with complete faith sincerity and mindfulness.
Mindfulness is the fundamental, the first and most important of the seven factors of enlightenment.
Recite the Buddha’s Name and vow for Ultimate Bliss.
This is the Pure Land Way to Buddhahood and Nirvana.
